On September 7, 2021, a petition to be filed on behalf of Jamie Spears for the September 29, 2021 hearing in Britney's conservatorship case was released. The petition requested termination of Britney Spears's conservatorship.

The petition generously quoted from Britney's statements in court on June 23, 2021 & July 14, 2021, transcripts of which were attached as exhibits to the petition.

Jamie insisted that the conservatorship had always been voluntary, so if Britney wants it to end the court should consider ending it. The petition included many well-reasoned and legally sound arguments in favor of ending the conservatorship, but only after the accounting is settled.

Britney's June 23 & July 14 statements to the court contain allegations of abuse by Jamie and others in his employ, which are not included in Jamie's September petition.

My dad and everyone involved in this conservatorship . . . should be in jail. Britney Spears, June 23, 2021

In the July 14 hearing, Jamie's attorney, Vivien Thoreen, argued on his behalf that Britney's statement on June 23 included "a lot of misstatements, misunderstandings, and whether it's because of a lack of recollection, whether there has been misinformation, whether it's been a lack of correcting, understanding".

I'm here to get rid of my dad and charge him for conservatorship abuse. . . I want an investigation on my dad. Britney Spears, July 14, 2021

On behalf of Jamie, Ms. Thoreen insisted that Britney's memories were "incorrect". Ms. Thoreen questioned Britney's capacity to understand what she said and further referred to the concerns as "hysteria".
